I’m a heritage storyteller, illustrator and writer whose work explores the connections between history, creativity and wellbeing. Through my blog at kateshrewsday.com and a wide range of heritage projects, I’ve spent more than a decade bringing stories from the past to life through illustration, graphic design, books, exhibitions and heritage trails.

I’ve worked with organisations including English Heritage, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Hampshire Cultural Trust and numerous museums and cultural organisations across the UK.

My fascination with the famous Flammarion engraving—a mysterious nineteenth-century illustration that appears in an astronomy book by Camille Flammarion—led me to develop the Flammarion Method: a simple, mindful approach to drawing using repeated lines and patterns. The process encourages calm concentration, creative exploration and personal reflection, inviting participants to discover the symbols and stories that matter most to them.

I’m currently touring my Illustrated Letters workshops across southern England and I also deliver bespoke workshops for museums, libraries, schools, businesses and community groups. My sessions are ideal for team-building events, educational programmes, wellbeing initiatives and reflective away days.
